Rita Rogers is an artist whose practice engages with the politics of image-making: using photography as a tool to evidence, and a means for counter-surveillance. She interrogates the sub-visable architecture of military power and nation-state governance across the UK.

Her practice is driven by an understanding that critical analysis of everyday and local environments can expose the structures of power that impact peace and nationhood. By documenting and archiving these spaces, she shows that space is not neutral, that distant forms of power are often rehearsed in ordinary environments, and that the act of seeing can disrupt the mechanisms of statehood.
